Art Deco ring, adjustable band?

Hello!
I just received an antique ring from my husband to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We found it at an antique store in Prague. We rec'd paperwork describing the stones, etc. The thing that is perplexing is that the band is adjustable. There are hinges on either side beyond the shoulders (?), and then at the back of it, a flap comes up and there is metal on the inside, you can pull on the ring and make it bigger. I'm wondering how this impacts the value? The antique dealer said that he's only seen this 5 times in 25 years.
